Dating back to 1881, this silver dollar represents a classic era of American currency. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin bears no mint mark, a traditional feature for issues from this facility. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, surviving today in Extra Fine condition. This specific coin type holds a significant place in monetary history, serving as active currency for nearly eight decades. The obverse side displays a profile of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with her name. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year of issue, and the Latin motto meaning "Out of many, one." On the reverse, a bald eagle holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and readiness.
