0.7734 troy oz .900 1881 Brilliant Unc

Struck in 1881 at the historic New Orleans Mint, this Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a remarkable survivor from a classic era of American coinage. Minted with a composition of 90 percent silver, the coin contains exactly 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a production run of 5,708,000 pieces, each carrying the distinctive 'O' mint mark that identifies its Southern origin. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with her name. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, grasping an olive branch of peace in one talon and a cluster of defensive arrows in the other. The New Orleans mint mark is positioned on this side, nestled just above the face value. Designed by George T. Morgan, this series spanned from 1878 to 1921. This specific specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning it retains its original luster and sharp details just as it looked when it first emerged from the coining press over a century ago.
