The 1881 silver dollar struck in San Francisco represents a remarkable moment in American coining history. Produced under the mandates of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878, this specific issue is celebrated for its sharp details and high production quality. Minted with a composition of 90 percent silver, the coin contains exactly 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal and measures 38.1 millimeters across. This particular specimen has been officially graded as Mint State 62 (MS-62), preserving its original luster and design elements from more than a century ago. On the obverse, George T. Morgan's famous profile of Lady Liberty faces left, her hair adorned with a Phrygian cap. The word LIBERTY is nestled in her crown, while the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM arches above her, and the date 1881 rests below. The reverse presents a powerful bald eagle with its wings fully spread, clutching both an olive branch and arrows to symbolize peace and readiness.
