0.7734 troy oz .900 1881 MS-67 (NGC)

The 1881 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin features the distinctive 'S' mint mark on its reverse. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, this piece is highly regarded for its crisp details and the remarkable quality of its preservation, having achieved a certified grade of Mint State 67. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, which displays the word 'Liberty' across her hair band. This side is framed by the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum', thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1881 date of manufacture. The reverse showcases a powerful American bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions 'United States of America', 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust'.
