Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1882 silver dollar represents a fascinating era of American coinage. Minted at the famous Carson City facility in Nevada, the coin bears the distinctive double-C mint mark on its reverse. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64), indicating it has survived more than a century with its original luster and details remarkably intact. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with the word Liberty. Surrounding this central portrait are thirteen stars, the date 1882, and the traditional Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. The coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 90 percent. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted with outstretched wings, clutching both arrows and an olive branch in its talons.
