0.0000 troy oz 1882 Good

The 1882 Indian Head Cent represents a classic era of United States minor coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this one-cent piece is composed of an alloy containing 95 percent copper, with the remaining 5 percent consisting of tin and zinc. Over time, these copper coins develop a distinct character, and this particular specimen survives in Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation during the late nineteenth century. The obverse of the coin features a depiction of Liberty wearing an ornate feather headdress, a design created by James B. Longacre. Surrounding this central figure is the inscription identifying the issuing nation as the United States of America, with the year 1882 positioned at the bottom. On the reverse, the denomination of ONE CENT is clearly displayed, framed by a simple, elegant wreath that completes the design.
