The 1882 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkable example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this specific coin carries no mint mark, which distinguishes it as a product of the nation's primary coining facility. Containing 0.77344 ounces of pure silver, the coin has survived the decades in excellent preservation, earning a certified grade of Mint State 63 (MS-63). On the obverse side, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word 'Liberty'. Surrounding this central figure are thirteen stars, the year of issue, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. The reverse displays an iconic bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. This central image is framed by the inscriptions 'United States of America' and 'One Dollar', while the motto 'In God We Trust' is positioned directly above the eagle.
