0.7734 troy oz .900 1882 Brilliant Unc

Minted in the late nineteenth century, this 1882 silver dollar represents a classic era of American currency. This particular coin was struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, denoted by the O mint mark on its surface. As part of a series that circulated as legal tender for nearly eight decades, these large silver coins are celebrated for their substantial weight, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The obverse side presents a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a band bearing her name. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1882, and the Latin motto meaning out of many, one. On the reverse, a bald eagle holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and defense. The eagle is surrounded by the inscriptions of the issuing nation, the face value of one dollar, and the traditional motto expressing trust in God. This specimen survives in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its iconic design.
