The 1882 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkable artifact from the late nineteenth century, minted at the historic New Orleans facility. This particular specimen has survived the decades in exceptional form, earning a high grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65). Composed of 0.900 fine silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, combining substantial physical weight with striking artistic detail. On the obverse, the design presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap. Look closely at her hair band to find the word "LIBERTY" delicately inscribed. Encircling this central portrait are thirteen stars, representing the original American colonies, alongside the date 1882 and the classic Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The reverse of the coin features a powerful bald eagle clutching both a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. Above the eagle, the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" are clearly visible. The entire reverse scene is framed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the face value, "ONE DOLLAR". Positioned just above the denomination is the distinctive "O" mint mark, identifying this piece as a product of the New Orleans Mint.
