0.7734 troy oz .900 1882 Extra Fine

The 1882 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage, originating from the historic mint facility in New Orleans. This particular piece has survived the years in Extra Fine condition, retaining much of the original detail that defined this popular silver series during its eighty year run in circulation. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. On the obverse side, a profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with her name. This central portrait is framed by thirteen stars, the year 1882, and the traditional Latin motto meaning out of many, one. The reverse side displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Above the eagle, the words of trust are inscribed, while the surrounding legends identify the issuing nation as the United States of America and state the face value of One Dollar. The small letter O positioned on this side confirms its origin from the New Orleans Mint.
