The 1882 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkable example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Minted in San Francisco, this piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. It has been certified as Mint State 63 (MS-63), indicating a well-preserved specimen that retains much of its original luster from the day it was struck. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the year of issue 1882, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. This side celebrates the foundational ideals of the nation through detailed engraving. The reverse of the coin presents a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons. The inscriptions surrounding this central image include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DOLLAR. Positioned above the eagle is the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, while the S mint mark beneath the wreath identifies its origin at the San Francisco Mint.
