The 1883 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkable artifact from a bygone era of American coining. Struck at the legendary Carson City Mint in Nevada, this piece carries the famous CC mintmark, a detail that immediately connects it to the American West. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal and is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail. On the obverse, the design showcases a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, with a band across her hair inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Encircling this central portrait are thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, along with the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the 1883 date of issue. The reverse side presents a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows. This central motif is framed by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the face value, ONE DOLLAR. Above the eagle, the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, is inscribed in gothic script, completing a design that remains one of the most celebrated in United States numismatic history.
