Struck in 1883 at the legendary Carson City Mint in Nevada, this silver dollar represents a fascinating era of American coin production. The piece is composed of 90% silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal. It has survived the decades in exceptional condition, earning a high certified grade of Mint State 64. The obverse features a classic left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, adorned with a band inscribed with the word "LIBERTY". On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted with outspread wings, holding an olive branch of peace in one talon and a cluster of arrows in the other. The famous "CC" mint mark of the Carson City facility is clearly visible on the reverse, positioned just above the coin's face value. This specimen is preserved in a generic GSA holder, a style of packaging associated with the historic government hoard sales that brought many of these Carson City treasures to light decades after they were minted.
