1883 Morgan Dollar XF

0.7734 troy oz .900 1883 Extra Fine

Struck in the year 1883, this silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin does not bear a mint mark, which distinguishes it from those produced at branch facilities. This issue was part of a production run of 12,290,000 pieces, each composed of 90 percent silver and containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse displays a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, and her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The design is framed by stars and the year 1883 at the bottom. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread. The national bird grasps an olive branch in one talon and a cluster of arrows in the other, representing both peace and military readiness. The legendary motto "In God we trust" appears above the eagle, while the denomination ONE DOLLAR is inscribed below.
