The 1883 Morgan silver dollar stands as a remarkable artifact of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this piece bears the distinctive "O" mint mark on its reverse, indicating its southern origin. Minted in 90% fine silver with a precious metal weight of 0.7734 troy ounces, this specimen has survived the decades in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original luster and sharp details just as it looked when it first left the coining press. The obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, adorned with a band inscribed with the word "LIBERTY". Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, alongside the date of issue, 1883, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". On the reverse, a powerful bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread, clutching both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength. This central motif is encircled by the inscriptions "United States of America" and the denomination, "One Dollar". The national motto, "In God We Trust", is positioned proudly above the eagle, completing a design that remains one of the most celebrated in numismatic history.
