0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 MS-64 (NGC)

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1884 silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in American numismatic history. Minted in Carson City, Nevada, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver within its 90 percent silver composition. While the Philadelphia Mint also struck dollars in 1884, those bearing the famous CC mint mark are highly celebrated, with this specific year representing the most frequently encountered Carson City issue of the entire Morgan series. The obverse design features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word Liberty. Thirteen stars border the lower half of the design, representing the original colonies, while the traditional Latin motto meaning out of many, one and the 1884 date complete the framing. On the reverse, an American bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The eagle is encircled by the country of origin, the face value of one dollar, and the national motto expressing trust in God. This particular specimen has survived the decades in remarkable condition, earning a certified grade of Mint State-64. The prominent CC mint mark is clearly visible on the reverse side, positioned just above the denomination, serving as a permanent signature of the historic frontier mint house.
