0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 Almost Unc

The 1884 Morgan Dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. This particular specimen survived in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail from the day it was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark, a common characteristic for coins produced at the main facility during this era. The Morgan dollar series as a whole served as a medium of exchange in daily commerce for about eighty years. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word Liberty. This side is framed by thirteen stars, the date 1884, and the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum. Composed of 0.900 fine silver, the coin contains exactly 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The reverse displays a heraldic bald eagle clutching both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Surrounding the central eagle design are the inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar, along with the national motto, In God We Trust, positioned directly above the bird.
