1884 Morgan Dollar XF

0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 Extra Fine

The 1884 Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a classic representative of a silver series that circulated as United States currency for nearly eighty years. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular issue carries no mintmark, a traditional feature of the nation's primary coining facility during the late nineteenth century. Each of these historic coins contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a fineness of 0.900. On the obverse side, a profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Framing this central portrait are thirteen stars, the year 1884, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse side displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch and three arrows in its talons. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, along with the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned directly above the bird's head.
