0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 Brilliant Unc

Struck in 1884 at the historic New Orleans Mint, this Morgan Silver Dollar survives in a brilliant uncirculated state. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, this coin represents a design that served as United States currency for nearly eight decades. The New Orleans origin is denoted by the distinctive 'O' mint mark located on the reverse side. The obverse presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, her hair band inscribed with the word 'Liberty'. This central portrait is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the 1884 date, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. On the reverse, a bald eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. Surrounding this central motif are the inscriptions 'United States of America', 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust'. Out of a total mintage of 9,730,000 for this specific year and mint, this piece remains a remarkable survivor of late nineteenth-century American coinage.
