Struck in the late nineteenth century, this historic silver coin represents a fascinating era of American coining. Minted at the New Orleans facility, as indicated by the distinct O mint mark positioned on the reverse side just above the denomination, this specimen is composed of 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. Having achieved a certified grade of Mint State 62 (MS-62), the coin preserves the intricate details of its original nineteenth-century manufacture. The obverse features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. Her hair band is inscribed with the word Liberty, and the design is framed by thirteen stars representing the original American colonies. Along the upper rim, the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum is clearly visible, while the 1884 year of issue is anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted holding both an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing a desire for peace alongside a readiness for defense. The national motto In God We Trust is inscribed above the eagle, while the outer edge bears the country name, United States of America, and the face value, One Dollar.
