The 1884 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic representative of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this particular coin carries the distinctive 'O' mint mark positioned on the reverse side. Containing 0.77344 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 90 percent, this specimen has survived the decades in an exceptional state of preservation, certified at a high-grade Mint State 65. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is adorned with a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word 'LIBERTY'. This central figure is encircled by the traditional Latin motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM', the 1884 date of manufacture, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a powerful bald eagle with outstretched wings, clutching both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength.
