0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 Very Good/Very Fine

Struck in 1884 at the historic New Orleans Mint, this Morgan silver dollar represents a key era in American coinage. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, these hefty silver pieces served as a staple of daily commerce across the United States for close to eight decades. The New Orleans facility produced 9,730,000 of these specific dollars in 1884, each bearing the distinctive 'O' mint mark. The obverse side presents a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which displays the word 'Liberty' along her hairband. This central figure is encircled by the traditional Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum', thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1884 date. On the reverse, a bald eagle clutches both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions 'United States of America', 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust'.
