In 1897, the Imperial Russian Mint in St. Petersburg produced a distinctive gold coin with the unusual denomination of 7 Rubles and 50 Kopeks. This issue, cataloged by numismatists as Krause Y#63, was struck in significant quantities, with the total mintage surpassing 16 million pieces. Today, surviving examples are typically found in average circulated condition, showing the honest wear of historical commerce. The obverse of this gold piece features the left-facing portrait of Nicholas II, the final emperor of Russia. On the reverse, the design displays the traditional Russian imperial eagle alongside the denomination and the 1897 year of manufacture.
