Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1884, this silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. With a total mintage of 3,200,000 pieces, each coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, minted with a fineness of 0.900. This particular specimen survives in a circulated state, displaying wear consistent with a Very Good to Very Fine grade. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a hair band clearly displaying the word LIBERTY. The year 1884 is struck at the bottom of the design, anchoring the coin in the late nineteenth century. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted with outstretched wings. The eagle clutches an olive branch of peace in one talon and a cluster of arrows in the other, symbolizing both strength and diplomacy. Below the wreath on this side, the letter S denotes its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
