Struck in the late nineteenth century, this United States silver coin represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted at the San Francisco branch, the piece contains 0.7734 troy ounces of actual silver content, part of a total production run of 3,200,000 pieces. The front side shows a left-facing profile of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band displaying her name. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the year 1884, and the Latin motto meaning out of many, one. On the back, a bald eagle holds a cluster of arrows alongside an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The reverse also features the national motto expressing trust in God, along with the issuing country and the one dollar denomination.
