0.7734 troy oz .900 1884 Extra Fine

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1884 silver dollar from the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted with a composition containing 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, this issue had a total production run of 3,200,000 pieces. Today, surviving examples in Extra Fine condition allow us to appreciate the finer details of a design that has captivated observers for generations. The front of the coin presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word "LIBERTY". Encircling this central image are thirteen stars, the year of issue 1884, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted holding an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and readiness. This powerful central image is framed by the inscriptions "United States of America" and the denomination "One Dollar", while the national motto "In God We Trust" is positioned directly above the eagle.
