In 1885, the Philadelphia Mint produced an incredibly small run of proof gold coins. Only 1,105 of these Indian Head gold dollars were struck, making any surviving example a significant historical find. This particular specimen is certified as PR-65 Cameo+, a designation that highlights the sharp contrast between the frosted details of the design and the mirror-like fields of the coin's surface.
