1885-CC Morgan Dollar AU
The 1885 Morgan silver dollar stands as a compelling artifact from the Carson City Mint, an institution renowned for its frontier history. With a remarkably low mintage of just 228,000 pieces, this specific issue is highly regarded by those who study the output of the Nevada facility. This coin survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its original strike. On the obverse, the profile of Liberty faces left, adorned with a Phrygian cap that features the word LIBERTY along her hair band. The year 1885 is clearly struck at the bottom. The reverse displays a bald eagle, wings spread, holding an olive branch in one talon and a cluster of arrows in the other. Below the eagle, the distinctive CC mint mark identifies its Carson City origin. Struck from 0.900 fine silver, this dollar contains 0.77344 troy ounces of precious metal. The reverse also bears the traditional national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the denomination of ONE DOLLAR and the country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
