The Carson City Mint holds a legendary status in American numismatics, and this 1885 silver dollar represents a remarkably well-preserved survivor from that historic Nevada facility. Struck with a silver purity of 90 percent, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. This specific specimen has earned a high certified grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65), indicating its superb condition and lustrous surfaces have survived the decades beautifully. On the obverse side, the design showcases a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, which features a band inscribed with the word "LIBERTY" nestled in her hair. The year 1885 is clearly struck at the bottom of the profile. The reverse side displays a powerful bald eagle with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the national bird grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing a desire for peace alongside a readiness for defense. Directly beneath the eagle, just above the "ONE DOLLAR" denomination, the famous "CC" mint mark identifies this piece as a product of the Carson City Mint.
