The 1885 Morgan silver dollar represents a fascinating moment in American coining, especially those bearing the famous CC mint mark of the Carson City Mint in Nevada. This particular issue is notable for its incredibly low mintage of just 228,000 pieces, making it a highly sought-after representative of the series. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap. Her hair band is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, and she is encircled by the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, the 1885 date, and thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with wings spread, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The eagle is surrounded by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, with the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned directly above the bird's head. This specimen survived in a circulated state, graded in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in commerce.
