The 1885 Morgan Silver Dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted at the Philadelphia facility, this particular coin does not bear a mint mark, which distinguishes it as a product of the nation's primary minting institution. For nearly eight decades, these heavy silver coins circulated as a standard part of daily commerce across the United States, carrying a metal content of 0.77344 ounces of pure silver within their 90 percent silver composition. On the obverse side, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word Liberty. Encircling this central figure is the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum, alongside thirteen stars representing the original colonies and the 1885 year of issue. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic bald eagle. The bird holds an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and military readiness. Surrounding the eagle are the inscriptions United States of America, One Dollar, and the national motto In God We Trust. This specimen has been certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63) condition, preserving the intricate details of its historic design.
