1885-O Morgan Dollar AU
Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1885 silver dollar represents a historic era of American coinage. Minted in New Orleans, as indicated by its 'O' mint mark, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of actual silver content within its overall 90 percent silver composition. This specific issue had a total production run of 9,185,000 pieces, and this specimen survives in a well-preserved, Almost Uncirculated condition. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, with a hair band clearly displaying the word 'Liberty'. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars, the year of issue, 1885, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with wings spread, clutching both an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. The eagle is framed by the inscriptions 'United States of America' and 'One Dollar'. Positioned directly above the eagle is the national motto, 'In God We Trust'.
