1885-O Morgan Dollar BU
Struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, this 1885 Morgan silver dollar is a brilliant example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. The coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, with a total silver purity of 90 percent. Out of a total mintage of 9,185,000 pieces, specimens in this Brilliant Uncirculated condition preserve the original details of the design with exceptional clarity. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a band inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year of issue 1885, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread, grasping an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows. The design is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is positioned directly above the eagle.
