Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1885 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in Louisiana at the historic New Orleans facility, the coin carries the 'O' mint mark on its reverse. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a fineness of 0.900, representing a substantial and historic precious metal issue. This specific specimen has been certified in an exceptional Mint State 66 condition, highlighting its superb preservation over more than a century. The obverse features a profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a band displaying her name. Encircling this central portrait are thirteen stars, the year of manufacture, and the traditional Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The surrounding legends include the issuing nation, 'United States of America', the face value of 'One Dollar', and the motto 'In God We Trust'.
