0.7734 troy oz .900 1885 Extra Fine

The 1885 Morgan silver dollar stands as a classic representative of America's late nineteenth-century coinage. Minted in San Francisco, this specimen carries the distinctive 'S' mint mark, indicating its origin at the Western facility. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, surviving today in Extra Fine condition. On the obverse, the design showcases a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which displays the word 'Liberty' across her hair band. This central figure is encircled by the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum', thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1885 year of issue. The reverse presents a powerful bald eagle grasping both an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Encircling this national symbol are the inscriptions 'United States of America' and the 'One Dollar' denomination, along with the motto 'In God We Trust' positioned directly above the eagle.
