The 1886 Morgan silver dollar is a striking representative of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty faces left. She wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional emblem of freedom, which is adorned with the word 'Liberty'. Surrounding her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the year 1886, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. The reverse displays a heraldic bald eagle with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the national bird grasps both an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows symbolizing strength. The inscriptions on this side include 'United States of America', the denomination 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust'.
