The 1886 Morgan silver dollar is a classic example of late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular issue bears no mint mark, a traditional feature for coins produced at the main facility during this era. Minted with 0.77344 troy ounces of silver, the coin has been certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63) condition, preserving its original design details for modern observers to appreciate. On the obverse side, a left-facing portrait of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which features a hair band inscribed with the word "Liberty". Surrounding her likeness are thirteen stars, the date of issue 1886, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum". This side of the coin captures a classic representation of American iconography from the period. The reverse side displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Above the eagle, the inscription "In God We Trust" is rendered in stylized gothic script. The name of the issuing nation, "United States of America", and the face value, "One Dollar", frame the central design, completing a powerful national symbol.
