The 1886 silver dollar stands as a classic representative of America's late nineteenth-century coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular issue bears no mint mark, a traditional feature for coins produced at the nation's primary minting facility during this era. Containing 0.77344 ounces of silver, this piece has survived in excellent condition, certified by professional graders at a Mint State 64 level. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, which is adorned with a hair band displaying her name. Framing her portrait are thirteen stars, the year 1886, and the traditional Latin motto meaning "Out of many, one." The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Surrounding this central motif are the inscriptions designating the issuing country as the United States of America, the denomination of One Dollar, and the national motto, "In God We Trust."
