Struck in 1886 at the Philadelphia Mint, this silver dollar represents a pivotal moment in American numismatic history. The coin is closely tied to the Free Silver Movement, a major political and economic debate of the late nineteenth century. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure precious metal, with a total weight of about 26.73 grams, a diameter of 38.1 millimeters, and a thickness of 3.1 millimeters. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by George T. Morgan. She wears a Phrygian cap decorated with a wreath of cotton and wheat, representing American agriculture, surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread wide, holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons, accompanied by the denomination of 1 Dollar.
