The 1886 Morgan silver dollar stands as a compelling artifact from the late nineteenth century, minted at the historic New Orleans facility. This particular specimen, preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, is composed of 90 percent silver and contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The physical presence of the coin carries the weight of an era when silver coinage was central to daily commerce in the United States. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap. A band securing her hair is inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Encircling this central portrait is the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with thirteen stars that pay tribute to the original American colonies. The year of production, 1886, is clearly struck at the bottom of the design. The reverse side presents a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons to symbolize both peace and military readiness. Above the eagle, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed. The name of the nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the face value, ONE DOLLAR, border the rim. Just below the wreath on the reverse, the O mint mark identifies this piece as a product of the New Orleans Mint.
