0.7734 troy oz .900 1886 Almost Unc

Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this 1886 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 90 percent. For roughly eight decades, these heavy silver coins circulated as a standard medium of exchange across the United States, passing through countless hands during a period of rapid national expansion. The obverse features a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which displays the word LIBERTY upon her hair band. Framing this central portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the 1886 year of issue, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the reverse, a bald eagle holds both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The eagle is encircled by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, alongside the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST. A small S mint mark is visible on this side, indicating its origin from the Western minting facility.
