This particular coin, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, was struck at the New Orleans Mint, as indicated by the 'O' mint mark. It represents one of 11,550,000 such coins produced at that location in 1887, serving as a durable piece of currency from a series that remained in circulation for nearly eight decades. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is shown wearing a Phrygian cap, with a hair band clearly displaying the word 'LIBERTY'. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars representing the original colonies, the date 1887, and the traditional motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. The reverse displays a bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch. Above the eagle, the phrase 'In God We Trust' is inscribed, while the outer border features 'United States of America' and the 'One Dollar' denomination.
