Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1887 Morgan silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted at the San Francisco facility, the coin carries the 'S' mint mark on its reverse side. It contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 0.900. While graded in Almost Uncirculated condition, this specific piece shows signs of past maintenance, displaying evidence of cleaning, polishing, or whizzing that has altered its original surfaces over the decades. The obverse displays a left-facing portrait of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which features the word 'LIBERTY' inscribed upon her hair band. Surrounding this central figure are thirteen stars, the date 1887, and the Latin motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. On the reverse, a bald eagle holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include 'United States of America', the monetary denomination 'One Dollar', and the national motto 'In God We Trust' rendered in stylized gothic script.
