The 1887-S Morgan Dollar stands as a striking representative of late nineteenth-century American silver coinage, minted at the historic San Francisco facility. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900, this particular specimen has survived in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail from the day it was struck. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. A band in her hair is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY" while the surrounding field features the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," thirteen stars representing the original colonies, and the 1887 date of manufacture. The reverse of the coin showcases a bald eagle with its wings spread, grasping both an olive branch of peace and arrows of strength. Surrounding this central design are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR," along with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned above the eagle. The distinct "S" mint mark is also visible, identifying its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
