The 1887-S Morgan Dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage, originating from the San Francisco Mint as indicated by the small 'S' mint mark. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of a design that circulated throughout the United States for nearly eight decades. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of fine silver, the coin is a substantial piece of late nineteenth-century history. On the obverse side, the profile of Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap. A close look reveals the word 'Liberty' inscribed upon her hair band.
