The 1887 Morgan silver dollar, minted at the San Francisco facility, represents a classic era of American coinage. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63) condition, preserving the intricate details of its original strike. With a total production of 1,771,000 pieces, this issue is highly regarded for its craftsmanship and historical presence. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap decorated with a wreath of cotton and wheat, symbolizing American agriculture. Thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, encircle the portrait, while a subtle 'M' monogram is placed at the base of her neck. The year 1887 is clearly inscribed at the bottom. On the reverse, an American bald eagle is depicted with wings outstretched, grasping an olive branch and arrows to symbolize peace and readiness. The inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', 'ONE DOLLAR', and the motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' frame the central design.
