0.7734 troy oz .900 1887 Extra Fine

Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this 1887 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The Morgan Dollar series itself circulated actively in commerce for about eighty years, becoming a familiar part of daily life across the nation. This particular specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the clear details of its nineteenth-century artistry. The front of the coin showcases a profile of Liberty adorned with a Phrygian cap, which displays the word LIBERTY along her hair band. Encircling her portrait are thirteen stars, the date of manufacture, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the reverse side, a bald eagle is depicted clutching both arrows and an olive branch. The reverse also bears the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the distinct S mint mark that identifies its origin in San Francisco. Containing 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, this coin is a remarkable survivor from the late 1800s.
