0.7734 troy oz .900 1888 Almost Unc

Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1888 silver dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark, distinguishing it from those produced at branch mints during the same period. This specific issue belongs to a larger series that spanned from 1878 to 1921, created by designer George T. Morgan. The front of the coin displays a left-facing profile of Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap, with her hair bound by a band displaying her name. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is depicted holding both an olive branch and a clutch of arrows in its talons, symbolizing a balance of peace and readiness. Each of these historic coins is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. Out of a total mintage of 19,183,000 pieces struck at the Philadelphia facility in 1888, this specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its original nineteenth-century engraving.
