In 1888, the Philadelphia mint produced over 19 million silver dollars, leaving behind no mint mark to identify their origin. Today, these pieces survive as classic examples of late nineteenth-century American currency, struck in 90 percent pure silver with a precious metal weight of 0.7734 troy ounces. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, showcasing the distinct details of a design that remains highly celebrated in numismatic history. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, who wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a band displaying her name. On the reverse, George T. Morgan's artwork depicts a bald eagle with its wings spread, clutching a combination of an olive branch and arrows in its talons. This classic imagery was minted regularly between the years of 1878 and 1921, representing a major era in United States coinage.
