Struck in the late nineteenth century, this 1888 silver dollar represents a major era in American coinage. The piece was produced at the New Orleans Mint, indicated by its distinct "O" mint mark, and emerged from an original mintage of 12,150,000. It belongs to the celebrated Morgan Dollar series, which came about following the legislative mandate of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878.
